Thank you to all who are serving your club as an officer or serving the district as a Division Director, Area Director, or other district position! Your leadership makes every member's experience possible.
Club Officer Training
As a club officer, you've taken on one of seven key roles that help manage and grow your club — and help your fellow members develop their skills. Club Officer Training is offered twice a year: once in the July–August timeframe, and again in December–February.
This training matters because well-trained officers run stronger meetings, retain members, and keep clubs healthy — which is what lets every member get the leadership and communication practice they joined Toastmasters for in the first place.

To earn Distinguished Club Program Point #9, four or more officers must attend summer training, and four or more must attend winter training.
Note: If you attend Club Officer Training outside of District 217, ask that district's Program Quality Director to notify our Program Quality Director for District 217 to verify your completion.

Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI)
TLI is a premier in-person event offering club officer training and more. It features a keynote speaker, general sessions, and multiple breakout sessions covering both officer-specific topics and broader Toastmasters themes. It's also where Toastmasters from across the District come together to network, share ideas, and get inspired.
Even if you're not a club officer, you're welcome to attend — elective sessions are offered on a variety of topics, giving every Toastmaster a chance to grow their skills.

Division and Area Director Training
As a Division or Area Director, your training session is where you'll get the tools to lead with confidence. Expect at least four focused hours covering your role, how to run effective club visits, support contest planning, and connect clubs with District resources. You'll learn directly from experienced leaders and walk away with practical strategies — not just theory.
This training isn't just a requirement; it's your foundation for a successful year. The clubs in your Area or Division are counting on you, and this session equips you to do exactly that. Come ready to learn, ask questions, and connect with fellow leaders!
Training starts in July, early in your Toastmasters year as Area or Division Director. Dates and locations for the training can be found on the District Calendar.
Interested in becoming an Area Director? D217 is still recruiting Area Directors throughout the district. Serving as an Area Director fulfills one of the six requirements for earning a DTM. Contact Bryant Pergerson, District 217 Director — he is happy to discuss the expectations, responsibilities, and opportunities that accompany this important role.

A Division Director supervises and supports Area Directors, ensuring every club fulfills its mission and serves its members well. They coordinate division activities and division contests, set division goals, and help train area and club officers.

An Area Director leads through the supervision and support of club officers, ensuring each club achieves its mission and serves its members well. They conduct club visits, coordinate Area activities and Area contests, set Area goals, and help train club leaders.
